Who am I ?
Music is a fascinating and richly faceted universe of itself – once dove in, it will keep you captivated by its extreme opposites. In the one moment you are taken on a journey to indescribably sensual depths and the next moment it will carry you away with its exuberant vitality and joy of life.
I am fascinated by all the different music styles: Pop, Rock, Blues, Classics, Jazz, Funk, Soul, Fusion, Flamenco, Tango, Avantgarde, New Music, Folk, African Music, Oriental Music, Spanish Music…. Everywhere on earth you can hear such wonderful and exciting music, be spellbound by it and want to play it yourself – a never ending process.
When I was young I already was enthralled by Hannes Wader, Neil Young, John Williams, Julian Bream, Baden Powell, Genesis, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Yes, Frank Zappa, Earth Wind & Fire, Michael Jackson, Prince, Leo Kottke, Miles Davis, Oregon, Pat Metheny, Keith Jarrett, Chick Corea, Eric Satie, Philip Glass or Steve Reich. During my time at Folkwang Musikhochschule I studied the classical concert guitar and played Mozart, Bach, Sor, Brouwer and Giuliani. But during all this time I was involved in various band projects. I played in cover bands, classical ensembles, small acoustic pop bands the classical guitar, western guitar or E-guitar and all the time was discovering new musical spheres.
My way of playing the guitar has been influenced by all those different music styles. Therefore me, as a guitar player, and my style cannot be easily defined – crossover seems to be the best description. Music is my life and I am happy to impart my knowledge and enthusiasm to my students who will enjoy a musical view beyond the horizon.
„Music is something truly fascinating. We can neither see it nor taste it nor feel it. Nonetheless music has a powerful effect on us human beings and stirs up emotions that can hardly be explained.“ (Pat Metheny)
